Records

Records in our office are confidential under FERPA, a federal privacy law. Except in very extreme circumstances, our office needs a student’s permission before sharing information about them with someone outside the university

Background Investigations

Typically, background investigators will need to come to our office in person and present their identification along with a signed release from the student. In order to share information about a specific student, we will need the explicit consent of that student. Please contact our office at 612-624-6073 or email [email protected] for more information.

How to Get a Record Request Form Completed

If a student would like us to complete a form that asks exclusively for disciplinary information, they can submit that form directly to our office. If the form asks for both disciplinary and academic information, it is typically submitted to a college services office. Staff in that college office can then work with us to complete the whole form.

In either case, the University will need the student’s permission to complete and submit the form. Contact our office at 612-624-6073 or email [email protected] with questions.
